Hello, I am having a major problem with Vista. Everything is working as it should except for one major problem - every second or so everything locks up for a brief moment. This is mostly noticeable (although noticeable with anything) when using the mouse or keyboard. Vista is still usable, but it is highly irritating and annoying, and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for me. Please help! Thanks, Matt

Problems with intermittent lag - please help!!
Hello,
This sounds to me like a buggy video card driver.
Please try upgrading your video card driver from your video card manufacturer's website.

I tried that... and the installer is telling me I am not running Windows Vista. Haha... strange... any ideas? By the way if it helps I have an nVidia GeForce 5500 FX

I recieved the same error. On the nVidia website it says to uninstall the Microsoft GeForce 5500 FX drivers first. but I cannot locate where I can do that. In the meantime I "upgraded" to the basic VGA driver and the "Hiccups" are now gone. One small step...

I actually got the drivers to install correctly - I don't remember how, it was a little while ago... but after installing the Nvidia drivers, there are NO HITCHES at all it runs as smooth as a baby's bottom. Thanks for your help everyone.

Thanks Matthew for the reply, after a little work I determined that if you turn off Microsoft's Defender, the drivers load just fine. I still get a hiccup now and then but it is FAR BETTER than the driver that came with the Beta and you must upgrade the drive because almost all of my media programs didn't work with the standard VGA Driver (MAME, Beyond TV 4, even the TV tuner in Media Center had problems with it!).
